What does this mean for Elsworth?
The East West Rail Company is to consider building the new Cambourne station to the north of the town, it was reported in the Cambridge Independent News in October 2020. This is one of a variety of options they may consider when they consult on the final route in early 2021.
Whilst this might provide villagers with a shorter route to any new station, one should consider the consequences of this going ahead:
- More traffic through the village from towns and villages to the north seeking to access the station
- Potential for significant housing development around the station itself.
