Meeting with Developers about plans for New Town

Plans for development north of A428 linked to station site

Representatives of Martin Grant Homes and Harcourt Developments, and their advisors requested a meeting with members of the Parish Council.

They wanted to discuss their plans for a major development of 6000 houses linked to the siting of the railway station at Cambourne. This development, previously known as Harbourne, was turned down by by the local planners in 2013. However, because the siting of the station is likely to have housing development linked to it, they are now starting to promote it again.

The site that Savills have resubmitted under the call for sites has an outline total capacity of 10000 houses.

The councillors expressed their concerns about the impact on the village, especially relating to traffic, flooding, light pollution, viability of school, and the loss of environment.

The Parish Council has concerns that the ultimate decision for this development may be taken at central government level as part of the governments desire to expand and development the OxCam Arc.

The Parish Council will continue to monitor the situation with this development.
